Yesterday, Gavin Newsom declared, "What makes L.A. great, what makes California great, and what makes the United States of America great—is that…we don't tolerate our diversity, we celebrate our diversity.” Made me think of and update this little ditty.
Will Someone Please Tell Me When the Celebration Begins?
So maybe integration didn’t quite work out as planned.

In that case, find joy any way you can. Starting with a good night’s sleep.
Wait! Isn’t it a “loan?” That’s today’s narrative. Must be some kind of payback schedule, I.e, don’t count on it…ever.
And Wednesday gets a pass? Not in these looney times. Not going to happen. Apologies
Is no one else baffled that an administration that regularly and gleefully employs negative portrayals of people of color on drugs - "They're all on them" - is so concerned about preventing those very same drugs from coming into the country and killing addicts? Something's not right here.
The word HATE was bandied around a bit about and during the "No Kings" day protests. Not enough was said about the marches really being about hating hate. Made me think of this:
Tough Loving
“I have decided to stick with love.

Not to make light of the situation, but the first thing that came to mind when I saw this news were the words of Gomer Pyle: "Surprise, surprise, surprise."
And then there were the Thais...https://apnews.com/article/thailand-hostages-gaza-explainer-israel-37e874bff5cb81ad6ea49d57058858a1
One of the four remaining bodies was returned today. Israel protested that he wasn't a hostage. He was. Just wasn't white. Didn't count.

"I ask you, how can God's love survive in a man who has enough of this world's goods yet closes his heart to his brother in need?"

1 John 3:17-18
And so much for that one.
Auto and oil companies. In LA, it was the oil companies that bought up the easements for the tracks.
Remember the Thai laborers who were taken hostage? No mention of them in many months: had to look it up just now. They're still waiting for two more bodies of the original 31. SILENCE. Just seems as though their lives could have mattered just a little bit more.

Today we honor the all Indigenous peoples whose wisdom, land, and spirit continue to guide us. May we walk with respect, gratitude, and humility remembering that every step we take is on sacred ground. And may we never forget the injustice done
OK, that's beyond funny.
Portland continues to amaze me 👏
Ummm. In case anyone missed it, CRUELTY is the point, but especially so if it can hurt black and brown people. Everyone else? #collateraldamage
And one is surprised why?
As far as I can see, 3 rural towns full of descendants of slaves...in Mississippi. You know the stats; no need to repeat. Again, white people, what if it had been drummed into you since birth your life doesn't matter? No excuse, but an answer to "why?"

The Fact of the Matter
I have a problem with #BlackLivesMatter.

My parents, from Los Angeles, lived there for two years from 1949-1951. For research on their story, I (also LA) visited Mound Bayou for the 1st time this February.
