I was 5. Herring Cove beach in Provincetown.
I knocked one of those heavy metal bike trail stanchions onto my little toe... and broke it.
Spent the rest of the summer (incl. my 6th birthday) with my foot wrapped up in ace bandage.
To this day, it's the only bone in my body I ever broke.
