The first time I saw fog in CO it confused me. I had woken up verrrrry early for a flight back to Boston and I was like “wait, am I on the east coast now and is this a dream?”

It’s just not as common there as it is in other parts of the country, so it always stood out

Yup, it’s applicable to everything from negotiation to therapy to being a prosecutor to marketing socks

But it’s totally natural to start from your lens

You need to remind urself not to do that

If a psych degree and decades in marketing have taught me anything - it’s that

If there’s interest in understanding their thought process, you cannot assume it’s correct to start with yours (and your values, what motivates you, etc)

One of the biggest errors I can make is looking at actions/statement through my own lens. Through my own value system, IQ, needs hierarchy, moral compass, whatever.

*We* think it’s completely illogical/immoral/unreasonable to continue to align with a proven liar

*They* do not

I tell my demo that our complexion will only provide so much protection here in the states if we’re marked as an “other”. Can be religion, age, net worth, eye/hair. I’m like 98% British with a splash of Norwegian. But I’m 58 and not blonde/blue eyed. I understand I’m not “top shelf” to them
