Teen Titans no. 42 (Dec 1972) cover by Nick Cardy. A real beauty of a cover! Other than the brightly garbed characters in the foreground, this could almost have been mistaken for one of DC’s horror comics of the time, many of which sported Cardy covers. The penultimate issue of this series.
The Titans are seen from behind riding on a wooden raft in turbulent waters heading for the gaping maw of a gigantic skull with fangs and horns jutting up from the water.

Black Widow is arrested for the murder of The Scorpion and Matt Murdock has agreed to defend her against the prosecution -- his partner Foggy Nelson.

As Daredevil enters the morgue to inspect The Scorpion's body he is surprised to find his old villain Mr. Hyde there!
Defying gravity and earthly physics, Black Widow stands vertically on a San Francisco building holding on to a flagpole while karate chopping at Daredevil who is swinging near her. We see that her Widow's sting has cut through his rope. As he falls to the ground below she says, "This is it, hero! Today is the birthday of cartoonist George McManus (Jan. 23, 1884-Oct. 22, 1954). He created the newspaper comic strip Bringing Up Father, featuring Irish immigrant Jiggs & his wife Maggie. The strip ran from 1913-2000, & spawned plays, radio shows, cartoons, films, & more.

The Flash Gordon Sunday newspaper comic strip by Alex Raymond from January 24, 1937.
The six panel strip opens with Flash and Dale Arden lying on the jungle floor as an enraged magnoped (like a weird elephant) moves to attack them. But then long vines come down from a tree and pull the creature up. They began to tighten and it screams. Flash picks up Dale and tries to flee, but he is also grabbed by the vines.
