American in Denmark here. I feel far more loyalty to Denmark than the US. In fact my US ties are highly embarrassing. I agree wholeheartedly with the Danish people. European reliance and cooperation is the future. The US is a clear and present danger to Denmark.

Identity politics is a weak form of emancipatory thought because it emerges from consumer identity - a mass consumption approach that says what you buy expresses who you are. Branding, in other words. Branding by default will never question the capitalist system and neither will identity politics.
