This needs to go viral
Great article with a good summary on how progressive policies can help you win elections. But it's not that centre-right politicians aren't smart enough to understand this, they have a different identity. This is fossil fueled capitalism. And the media supports it. It's class war from the top.
This is about as good a survey as I've seen of where Europe's center (and center-right in Germany) have gone wrong, what they could do to course correct, and the stakes involved.

George Lakoff and I pushed this simple and reasonable idea years ago. When I returned to journalism, I realized the problem. Editors care more about SEO and controversy (=clicks) than about whether the headline is destroying truth. Incentive is to bait engagement at all cost.

Regenwald war gestern, jetzt verkündet Merz Doppelschlag gegen Klimaschutz! Während sich Carsten Schneider weiter im Amazonas für den Klimaschutz abmüht, fällt ihm die eigene Koalition in den Rücken. Denn im Koalitionsausschuss spielt Klima dann plötzlich keine Rolle mehr.

Das permanente Gerede über so genannte „Tabus“, die jetzt endlich gebrochen werden, geht an der Realität komplett vorbei. Als würde nicht permanent über angebliche Gefahren der Migration debattiert werden. Als wäre Rassismus nicht längst hoffähig geworden in diesem Land.
