But seriously, is it too much to ask the all these comply-in-advance cowards to fucking get the message? No one wants this, and we will fight to keep our democracy.

Showed one of my credential students the #sschat archives yesterday & he was flabbergasted at all the amazing resources we shared over those ~10 years. Good reminder of the power of social media community before it became monetized & branded.

Underrated thing I miss from grad school for sure. Now I just gotta channel this vibe with my undergrads next week for first week of classes!
One under-discussed benefit of studying young kids learning through play is that no-matter how stressful the week is, someone has data with kids doing hysterical and / or amazing things to brighten the day and remind us why we do this work.

Every safety regulation was written in blood, frequently with a body count higher than one, and it’s not political to put the blame on people who want to “move fast and break things” when they start breaking human lives.

if you cared about morale and recruitment you would not alienate a group that disproportionately enlists into the military, but if you are a white nationalist…

I am working with colleagues to develop a sharable resource for education leaders about how to respond to immigration efforts in schools. If you work for or in a school district that has put out public resources (especially protocols like this one drive.google.com/file/d/1zMId... ) please share!

This morning NPR reported on Hochul’s proposed school cell phone ban. They said every stakeholder agrees with the ban: teachers, parents, and law enforcement.
Notice a pretty large stakeholder missing from that group? How about kids?

I don’t know what it says about me as a parent that my 7yo’s favorite song is Sucker for Pain by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons….at least I got to emphasize again that just because words are used in a song doesn’t mean you’re allowed to say them…😬

Anyone seen good resource / reading on how to design materials for students - whether digital or analog - that utilize design principles to make great materials? Thinking about use of Canva & other tools in ways that are aesthetic but not accessible or easily used by students.
