Another Eminem confession: I would bop this alot during my high school days, so much so when I was mentally prepping myself to get all hyped up for sport thing. I still think it does a great job of being a slow build of (faux) rage, which I think helps

I admit I did have a biiiiit of an Eminem phase (I mean, he's just good) but I think his most bluntly dumb and funnest song is Drug Ballad off his first LP. Goofy, but it's has such and genuinely good groove and bounce

Watermelon Chicken and Grits is the 1st album I loved front to back (2 songs are eh but fine). Kentucky-based rappers were so new, and the unique dynamics of each rapper were so amazing and fresh! I bumped Headz Up everywhere

3rd Wonder song is both beautifully and interestingly constructed; once again Wonder's voice carries it, but its unique 3 part structure flow together quietly and brilliantly. I will alternate b/t all 3 songs in terms of what I consider my favorite of his work!

Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is indeed a great album (a bit overrated imo but understandably so!). But Everything is Everything, specifically underrated. That beat is wildly infectious and I think it fits Hill's singing and rapping the best of all the songs on the album!

A small story behind this next song: back in the shock jock days a local radio station was hosted by a team called Star and Buckwild, and while they mostly sucked, they did play a lot of non-radio friendly songs, and they played this next one a lot. Best thing they ever did.

While Mika's Lollipop was blowing up the internet, I found myself loving his other songs as well (Happy Ending still gets me). But The Origin of Love (title track) hit me RIGHT as I was questioning my sexual identity a lot. It's beautiful, boisterous, and big, which I love!

Jay-Z's Blueprint is a seminal album (although I think The Black Album is overall better) but this underrated bop from it thrived in repeatedly in my Walkman haha. I love the Spanish influences and that slower 3rd verse switch-up is brilliant. Still a banger.

Pop culture jokes aside, I fuck with this song. I was caught belting this song out on the school bus! "Ironic" probably isn't Alanis Morissette's best song but it slaps. Always been a fan of songs that can go hard then soft with little effort. Holds up even if it's silly!

I Saw the Sign gets referenced a lot but personally I *really* dug All That She Wants. I love the up/down build of each verse right into the chorus. Interesting use of sax too! Holds up a lot but I wouldn't listen to it all the time nowadays.

This song consumed my middle school years. P Diddy is an awful human being but uhhh he cooked with this, MAINLY because Biggie's flow is excellent here (hate to say it but P Diddy also solidly produced it, and his "uh-huhs" and "yeahs" work! Fuck yeah this song holds up.)

This thread reminded me of this song that was on the front end of A Goofy Movie on VHS, which I weirdly loved as a kid? I actually love the sax and the verses are simple but fun, but the chorus is too much; it doesn't transition from the verses all that smoothly.
