Queer boi-ish from Buffalo. I'm a producer, composer, & DJ, as well as a full-stack developer. They/them. I bring startups to prod and make outlandish concept albums that intentionally mix-and-match genres, focused around a base of EDM & pop.
I'm excited for everyone to hear the upcoming "We Gotta Stop 'Em" single. It's one of those great stadium songs that they play on the jumbotron and everyone sings along about sports. Just like the great riffs from the Clash, or Rage, or Muse, and those other sports-focused arena anthems :)

My studio computer is in this uncomfortable place where Windows 10 has formally hit end of life and doesn't get security updates, but Windows 11 is not yet sold in the cloud-disabled-no-AI edition a court will eventually order Microsoft to offer. Just gotta not get ransomwared for like 24mo.

A little thing that works for me, maybe it can work for you, is that Black Friday week is also "Focused Unsubscribing Week". EVERY company that ever got you on their mailing list will send an email this week. Make an intention as you enter the week to unsub, not just ignore, to anyone you're over.

trust is neither given nor earned. it forms naturally between people who share the experience of having listened to Skinny Puppy at or after 3 am in the dark by themselves

As if every ICE trooper isn't exactly the kind of dingus who is always like "Cheese it! It's da bat!!" when you come up on them in video games
Border Patrol's Greg Bovino just posted a new Batman-themed propaganda video to social media

Sitting here waiting for when, not if, I will see a "Zohran won—here's why that's bad news for Democrats and the left" article from a major publisher before the end of the day.

Had a ton of fun last night seeing The Spit Sisters (and Heathens, who are new to me!) in my giant inflatable bull, at the newly reopened Mohawk Place. Good for thrashing.

Time to dress up as a giant inflatable Buffalo and go see a punk show/burlesque show combo. Happy halloween, everybody!

A lot of the talk about the Platner thing keeps coming back to asking "is (thing) disqualifying?" and people need an update on what a disqualification means.

The fundamental point of a disqualification is that it, and it alone, sets the answer, even weighed against other things.

Was having a fun talk with a friend last night about "musical concepts that exist just for the sake of a single genre". We had "squelch" for acid and "wub" for dubstep. Anybody else think of any musical ideas that provide an assessment for only a single genre?

Saw some threads earlier about greatest lyricists. I think you have to differentiate for different purposes of lyrics.

For instance, accessbility: I respect Linkin Park's vagueness and ability to make generic enough lyrics that make a point that resonate with EVERYONE who's ever been lonely.

I think my most inconsequential-but-still-real music opinion is: I wish pedal steel guitar wasn't so country-coded. It's a gorgeous instrument that adds to every track, and every time somebody uses it outside of country, it's glamorous. Just so hard to use it and not trigger "this is country"

I think I've put my finger on what makes all Oasis' music seem so dickish and aloof in hindsight.

If you listen closely you'll notice the lyrics are RARELY "me". They're overwhelmingly about how YOU'LL feel, what YOU will do, what YOUR actions will cause. Nearly all other artists are like 90% "me"!

Looking for some political-but-not-strictly-political music to purchase this BandCamp Friday? "Radical Honesty" is clearly written from a queer, leftist angle, but not insistently so. I'll highlight some of the most "in our present moment" lyrics below: downupright.bandcamp.com/album/radica...
