I got so stoned at a Mets game once I compared the Jumbotron to the top screen of a Nintendo DS bc it had “a bunch of useful contextual information” and the field to the bottom screen bc “it’s where the game is actually played”

i realize this might call into question why trimeshes are using the bvh to begin with: an individual obb/triangle check is still slower than obb/aabb, and using the bvh means you won't have to check a lot of triangles that are obviously not anywhere close
more #gamemaker optimization shenanigans, unrelated to 2024.14: noticed some values in 3D collisions aabb/obb can be pre-calculated, speeding up the whole thing by up to ~40%
this also means obb/trimesh checks are faster, since traversing the bvh is more expensive than the actual triangle checks

ngl, that Steam Machine looks like Valve decided to resurrect the GameCube after Nintendo discontinued it in 2007.

more fun uses for #GameMaker 's new sphere culling function: used with Ridiculous Numbers of Point Lights in a deferred renderer, you can get a nice speed boost from cutting out lights that aren't on screen

honestly the only thing that surprises me about this is that the fandom didn't whip up a massive fabricated controversy until *after* the game's release this time
We know now this is utter nonsense but this is indicative of the massive problem that exists in regards to Pokémon, and Nintendo in general.
People post without context and/or knowledge and it spreads, and spreads and people just assume. This has 127k likes...
