Exciting news! Our textbook, Philosophy of Education, has been published with Palgrave!!

This is a contemporary, up-to-date, not old, male & stale introduction to our field.

Please spread the word & order the book for your library!

I can get behind this movement! And it's time soup got called out for masquerading as a meal. It's just a chewy drink that's too wet to be food.

It's International Coffee Day. A moment to put our caffeine-based differences aside and unite against our common enemy: soup.

I'm feeling very forswunk this week. Slightly concerned as it's only September and there's another 10 months of the academic year to go 🙈

Today I offer a reminder of the word ‘forswunk’ (13th century): exhausted from too much work. To be ‘foreswunk’ (my own version) is to be exhausted before you even begin.

Might have mildly dislocated my neck nodding along with everything! Love both the critical response to the avalanche of SSP in the reading curriculum and a call to action for more nuanced approaches and prioritising motivational and mattering.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴: Education reform deserves language that reflects its complexity. When policy borrows corporate vocabulary, we risk reducing teaching to a transaction rather than a deeply human, transformative process, says Dr O'Donnell. #ECER2025 #EduSci...

This reminds me of one of my favourite organisational culture papers on 'functional stupidity'. We talk about this a lot in our PGCHE, and how culture change is so hard because those leading too often start with a collective memory of 'how things have always been done'.

In a very fitting metaphor for July in academia I seem to have killed the office plant....
