Out of 291 schools already registered for the Texas voucher program,. more than 100 require or prioritize for admission students of the same faith, and more than 60 have a written policy that discriminates against LGBTQ+ students, the schools’ own data shows.

"The most fundamental incompetence in the Vietnam War was the misapplication of the social and mental model of an industrial process to human warfare" (Shay, Achilles in Vietnam).

Play Madlibs with this sentence and make it about K12 education. Moral injury of teachers is real.

Today is the day that everyone should know or remember that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. began advocating for universal basic income before he was killed. Everyone should also know why. Read his words about it to learn why. Lots of quotes from him here to help understand his reasoning:
"The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct, and immediate abolition of poverty." — Martin Luther King Jr.

Keep a paper map in your car. Then you don’t need your phone to navigate.

Print of all kinds is a rent strike in this technofascist world.
Thanks to a software program called "Tangles," police—sheriffs, Texas state cops, and even ICE—can follow the location of your smartphone without a warrant.

Yet, we know little about how it has been used. Here's what our investigation revealed:
Texas Police Invested Millions in a Shadowy Phone-Tracking Software. They Won’t Say How They’ve Used It.
One sheriff who leads an anti-smuggling task force says the software helps “develop leads to eventually obtain probable cause.” Civil liberties experts say its use violates constitutional rights.

@frankstrong.bsky.social is on fire with this take down of the Texas list.

Action steps are at the bottom. Write your SBOE rep!
Urgent call to action, Texans: we need to write to our State Board of Education members and tell them NOT to adopt the proposed required reading list they’re considering at the the end of the month. It is BAD. I wrote about why here: franklinstrong.substack.com/p/call-to-ac...
