It really is worth stressing that this "important scholarship" is neither important nor scholarship.
Three generations of law professors making history up is enough.

Scholars spend decades researching and writing history with nuance and care.

American law professors will take a couple of months to relearn all of science to explain why the world is, in fact, flat.

So many of my students (and myself) have been staying home for our own safety. It doesn’t matter if you have the “right” documentation nor whether or not you’re a citizen.

If you don’t “look” like you belong (i.e. if you’re not a white person), then you’re a target.
I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

who up thinking about the Wilmington massacre and coup
I have become obsessed with civil war history for a lot of reasons but, as I have mentioned before, a big lesson was how the liberal faction of the republican party negotiated themselves out of power, in large part, because of their own personal interest in “getting back to business as usual”
The durability of this particular void is honestly fascinating from a purely sociological perspective.

Listen, the president of the United States doesn’t — and shouldn’t — get to levy tariffs on an arbitrary whim.
Trump says he'll impose a 10% tariff (rising to 25% in June) on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, because they've sent people to Greenland, until the US can buy Greenland.

The powerful Chicago Teachers Union that regularly slams the Trump administration received word on Thursday that its finances are being investigated by a federal agency on top of an already announced inquiry by a Republican-led U.S. House committee.

As of yesterday, the whole 6-episode CHERNOBYL-rewatch podcast @jessicacalarco.com and I have been doing is available. We talk public and private reasons to lie & to go along with lies; we talk about scientific ideals and human messiness; we talk about total systems and fatal flaws. It’s good!

ICE raids are not the first time this was made explicit. I think people downplay how much Jim Crow was not just about controlling Black people but it was also about controlling white people. If you thought racism was dumb and acted that way you could end up with a bomb in your home
Just keep coming back to the fact that keeping people in a constant state of terror is a form of mass disablement and essential to the eugenic project that is the United States.

Relatedly something a lot of people often forget is that substantively speaking it's not really that hard to be right on the merits about an issue (for example: Palestine) even if you don't identify as left-wing. CVH is as capital L Liberal as it comes and he's the best senator on the issue.

I find it necessary these days to affirm the obvious because the descent into fascism is mostly a continuous, not discrete, process so here it goes:

these are internal checkpoints by secret police for what is routine freedom of movement.
It’s been reported locally, but I’m not sure how much national notice this has gotten. As part of this invasion by shithead goons, they are putting ICE agents in jetbridges and other parts of the airport at Minneapolis-Saint Paul. If you are flying Delta via MSP, you are putting yourself at risk.
