I think star trek focuses a lot on genetics almost to its disadvantage. I Get that the 90s were the genetic revolution in some ways but I just don't believe they'd completely be rid of small molecule drugs in favor of gene therapies in the 24th century

a lot of able-bodied people are obsessed with the concept of fixing and curing disabilities and the idea that the life of someone disabled is inherently something tragic and it keeps rearing its ugly head in star trek especially with how geordi is depicted. never fails to pmo
