ReplyGuys on BlueSky can engage in super disingenuous ways and it's wildly annoying. Makes it less worthwhile to even post here, honestly.

I don't post without attribution or citations to back up my claims, and it's still never enough for people. Meh.

Anyone else while watching #HeatedRivalry was like, "I need to know more about Black Russians!"?
January 9, 2026 at 8:25 PM
Just finished #HeatedRivalry and its definitely gay hockey sex and also the characters and narratives are so nuanced! It's such good writing.

I’m so excited to finish this book and share what I’ve learned and who I’ve become in the process of learning about Langston, Pauli and Audre.

In the meantime, here’s a photograph of Pauli Murray hopping a freight train in the 1930s:

Another thing why I would rather die than read anything AI generated: there's a feeling when reading a sentence written by another person that so perfectly describes a situation I've experienced or observation I've had that makes me feel connected.

There should be an option to mute/block any posts (across social media) of AI generated images & videos.

I'm reviewing copyedits on an article, one more step toward publication, that should be out in Spring 2026!

Major universities not understanding their professors can sue them and win is peak higher ed stupidity. Litigation isn’t just a right wing tool. 🙃

Resisting fascism isn't about our egos. It's about protecting the most vulnerable. And that means lots of work that isn't necessarily for public consumption.

100% sure AI couldn't have written the book I just wrote because it does not know how to screen out what evidence is unnecessary, frame the question, and then structure chapters to build toward and overall argument so readers can follow.
After 16 yrs researching & writing a book (see pinned post), I estimate it was 60% me learning what is happening through all those periods of US history & then 40% me figuring out after I explained it to myself, how to convey it to the readers in framing the question and structuring the chapters.

There are people in my community I don't like, so I will not go out of my way to offer my time and attention to. However, if it comes to defending their life and human rights, you better believe I'm gonna be there for them.

I'm really proud of this article. Quyanakpuq @redped.bsky.social for including me on this project. In this discussion between 5 Indigenous academic women, we discuss the intersection between feminism and Indigenous studies, with lots of suggested readings that shaped our thinking in this area.

My latest project: a brown ombre cowl, or infinity scarf. I had to restart it 5 times because I kept losing stitches and it would taper (making a rectangle is not easy). I suspect there was an issue with the pattern.

Gorgeously crocheted infinity cowl made by crochet queen @drcaromaldo.blacksky.app using "Rustic-Earth Archer. This is inspired by a young Black archer in a 16thc painting. The earthy look goes w/ every skin tone & pretty much every color so damn near perfect, just like Dr C-M's work. 🧶
