Honestly, testable hypotheses. I’ve got a something under review using HINTS, that I should put in pre-print, that says generally speaking, social media is bad for fruit and vegetable consumption. I bet some of these could be tested with ANES.
Broadly speaking: reality tv is bad for democracy, influencers are bad for democracy, streamers are bad for democracy, YouTubers are bad for democracy.

Exceptions to all categories exist, but it’s astonishing how absolutely clogged our political and media ecosystems are with low-info narcissists

Is somebody gonna start campaigning on redirecting every god damned dollar of tax payer money given to the mask-off White nationalist Elon Musk? That's a purity test I can happily sign on to.

Thinking a lot about Fetterman and Sinema, and how greater or more stringent purity tests aren't helpful in cases of candidates who are just straight up self-promoting frauds.

I don’t know about ya’ll but I’m pretty on board with the politics holding the MAGA movement accountable- specifically to such a degree that it serves as an warning that reverberates intergenerationally, to not fuck around with fascism again.
cool, cool. so we are sort of like citizens, but not really?

The VA 2026 Dem caucus spearheaded by The Abitron continues to please me greatly.
Virginia Senate backs joining the National Popular Vote Compact, sending the bill to the House. The move aligns with polling showing nearly 6 in 10 Americans favor electing presidents by national popular vote.

Reminder: It has been a very bad flu season. Undercutting flu vaccination is a perfect Trump Administration special combination of stupid and dangerous.

It's notable how rank-and-file conspiracy-based voters, almost never post their own prose on social media. They mostly just retweet "throwing it out there" stuff that they have no capacity or intention of actually defending or elaborating upon.

The fact that the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie's mother is the most covered story of February 2026 in the United States is absolutely to god infuriating. The media will take literally any excuse to ignore fascism and abuse of power.

Sometimes I think “everyone is twelve” is overstated. Then I see the literal health secretary announcing that he will never eat his vegetables and you can’t make him.
RFK Jr on what he'll eat during the Super Bowl: "I am on a carnivore diet so I just eat meat and ferments, and I'm very happy with that. So I'm probably going to have yogurt."

VA Gov. Spanberger (moderate, was in CIA) and NYC Mayor Mamdani (left, is in DSA) both taking steps to block local law enforcement from helping ICE as it violently violates people's rights is a good example of how the relevant divide in the Dem coalition isn't center-left, it's fight-don't fight.
