I'm no great fan of Murial Bowser, but based just on what's in this article, I'm skeptical. More reporting, please.
Oh wow: The @nytimes.com reports the Department of Justice is reportedly investigating @mayorbowser.dc.gov for corruption over a 2023 trip she took to Qatar. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/06/u...

I continue to pray for the Robert Caro-style biography of Pelosi that she deserves. She made a lot of very difficult things look easy, and I think a detailed, fine-grained narrative of how that actually happened would be fascinating.
I would be very interested in reading literally any analysis of yesterday's elections that doesn't involve the author doubling down on their priors.

It's not that what you thought on Monday is wrong. It's just not that interesting.

Bomb threats at polling places in New Jersey today follow a troubling pattern. Election officials are now seeing coordinated threats not just in federal election years, but in off-year local elections too. This is becoming a consistent tactic to disrupt voting and intimidate election workers.
I'm all in on early voting, but I think "If you don't vote early you'll face bomb threats and police force at the polls" pretty quickly turns into "If you don't vote early, you probably shouldn't vote at all." And that's bad for democracy, bad for Democrats, bad for everyone.

Airline #Privacy is a serious problem, as airlines essentially have no privacy requirements (Dept of Transportation started investigating airline privacy practices last year but the agency has since dropped it).

You should opt out of this practice ASAP.
PSA from 404 Media: you can opt-out of a data broker selling your flight travel data to the government to be searched without a warrant. Here's how I did it. This is ARC, the data broker owned by major U.S. airlines like United, Delta, American, etc

Who in the world would vote for a person so uncommitted to their hometown that they'll leave it if they can't be in charge?

Relevant text of TikTok's content guidelines:

"Leave you troubles outside! So - life is disappointing? Forget it! We have no troubles here! Here life is beautiful... The girls are beautiful... Even the orchestra is beautiful!"
Huh: TikTok took down my 8-second video featuring this image of Debbie Brockman — the news producer just detained by Trump’s CBP agents — saying it violates the “joy of TikTok”

Think about it Donald. AOC. Zorhan. Schumer. All forced to say "He's done some terrible things, but..."
I know it's not the point but ...

If I were Trump I'd fund the NY subway lavishly -- actually fix it.

He'll leave a stinking mound of refuse as a legacy, but everyone in NY (including a lot of important national media) will find themselves saying "but at least he fixed the subway" for eternity.
New: WH says it has put about $18 billion in infrastructure projects in New York City on hold "to ensure funding is not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles." Russ Vought, the budget director, specifically cited the Hudson Tunnel Project and the Second Ave Subway.

Good morning.

The government is shut down because Trump wants to act like a king and steal from you.

Democrats have no obligation to support a budget that funds the destruction of our democracy - and DOUBLES health premiums to fund a tax cut for billionaires.
I didn't go to Walmart in 2002, but I moved to Arkansas in 2003 and went to Walmart a LOT. It had none of these things.
This is doing numbers on social media right now and it's so depressing how people truly yearn for this shit and want to preserve that feeling indefinitely like a mausoleum of false memories.
I don't have very many to say about Marjorie Taylor Greene, whose antisemitic conspiracy theories are very very bad, but I do kinda wish more politicians of both parties would take this approach:
Who showed Princess Anne how to use a projector?
Real widening gyre vibes lately.
