I regret to report that THE MUMMY RETURNS does not rule. This has gotta be one of the steepest sequel dropoffs in blockbuster history.

I'd forgotten so much of this, but the big retcon of Evy as a reincarnation of Pharaoh's daughter? OOF.

GRAND THEFT HAMLET is a beautiful reminder of the value and power art holds for us as humans trying to connect with each other. Great flick that made this ex-theater kid laugh, cry, and kiss 90 minutes goodbye.

A true delight of a man. I first fell in love with him thanks to this doc material for the ALIEN DVD box set. My TV screen couldn't contain his warmth and passion.

Haven't seen PRIMATE yet, but I'll always give a chance to a Brooklyn gorilla. It's what Bob Burns would want me to do.

Spoiler for this week's upcoming @genrevision.com episode: THE MUMMY rules.

And yes, I think TREMORS and THE MUMMY are the JAWS and the RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK of the '90s. They are on that level.

Still didn't get an answer. I want to help charge some reappraisal of THE QUIET and that includes knowing if you can view its intended presentation in high quality.

Much like RICOCHET, another wacked and sleazy gem, THE QUIET needs to be restored and released in its proper aspect ratio.

This is the way.
Total agreement. We need some absolute madman like Panos Cosmatos to make โ€œInsomnia,โ€ or pay Benson & Moorhead to tackle โ€œFrom a Buick 8โ€ or โ€œN.โ€ Give Karyn Kusama โ€œHome Delivery.โ€

THE LONG WALK was my most desired King adaptation. Now? I wouldn't mind seeing a proper feature-film riff on "Lunch at the Gotham Cafรฉ". I think there's a very film-friendly approach you can bring to that story structurally, and I want to see an actor swallow scenery whole as the waiter.
February 10, 2026 at 7:44 PM
Realizing people aren't comprehending me when I say, "I want more LONG WALKs (King stories that haven't been adapted get a movie/show) instead of THE RUNNING MANs (King story that got adapted before gets another movie/show)."

Yes, I know THE LONG WALK got adapted. I really, really know it.
February 10, 2026 at 7:33 PM
I love Darabont's adaptation but I also understand criticisms fans of the novella have about it. However, I don't see much worth in re-adapting/expanding that story, outside of a desire to do something radical with the entire idea like setting it outside the market.
February 10, 2026 at 7:26 PM
Granted, THE RUNNING MAN (2025) was an attempt to better adapt the actual story of King's novel, and yet it ended up a much less interesting and engaging piece of pop rebellion than the goofy '80s version.

I just want new King stories on the screen like THE LONG WALK and THE LIFE OF CHUCK.
February 10, 2026 at 7:20 PM
If this fully materializes, I'll obviously see it.

But, there are so many Stephen King stories worth adapting that haven't gotten a proper shot. Gimme THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON, THE EYES OF THE DRAGON, REVIVAL, THE JAUNT. Not more CARRIE and THE MIST.

THE LONG WALK instead of THE RUNNING MAN.
Mike Flanagan will bring Stephen King's THE MIST back to the screen with a brand new movie for Warner Bros.

Flanagan will write & direct the new adaptation of King's tale, which was previously turned into a 2007 movie and a one-season TV series in 2017.

Everyone PLEASE. Watch THE QUIET!!
Well, I certainly walked away with a take on THE QUIET. I guess you'll have to consider me one of its biggest fans.

Doubt I'll get an answer but does anyone know if this is available in HD in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio? The version I watched was cropped for 1.85:1. I need this in scope.

I really gotta get back to using this place for fun and to talk writing. All this screaming into the void about the worst people in the world is bleaching my soul. More supporting the oppressed and less yelling about the oppressors.

Glad to have been on the same page with this one!

I added STOKER to my Letterboxd review of movies to program with THE QUIET, and it made me furious once again that we don't recognize STOKER as one of the definitive champions of 2010s cinema.

Should be a classic.
