Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

God I love stories like this.

'Rhythm Nation' used to crash hard drives.
How a Janet Jackson song crashed laptops for 9 years
In 2001, Microsoft support employees made a shocking discovery: Janet Jackson's hit, "Rhythm Nation," could cause laptops to crash. New details have now come to light showing what was done about it.

TIP: If you run a .LNK file you download from the Internet and click the "Shoot self in foot" button on the warning prompt, that's exactly what is going to happen.

One of the amusing peculiarities of the microblogging format is everyone seems to expect that any brief opinion you share in a ~140ish character format to be an exhaustive critique considering all edge cases rather than a single illustrative point.

A tweet/thread/toot is not a long form essay! :)

Okay, be honest - how many browser tabs do you have open right now? 👀

If the answer is a lot (you know who you are 😛), did you know in chromium based browsers (like Edge & Chrome) pressing CTRL + SHIFT + A will bring up a searchable list of your tabs?

Anyone doing Advent of Code this year ? adventofcode.com
As someone who don’t code on a daily basis longer, I find these problems fun and good exercise. Just don’t overthink them ;)

Why refactor? To reduce volatility in the marginal cost of features.

We can see this as a socially acceptable way of saying "to express love", especially in a job context.

What would happen if we embraced this idea? Why don't you embrace this idea now? What obstacles stand in your path?
