ken did a really great thread here that nicely articulates why i block doomers.

the only thing i’ll add is this: doomerism is a form of voter suppression. saying shit like “there won’t be elections” is saying there’s no point in fighting. it’s demotivating. fuck that.
This kind of thing does point out a real ethical dilemma: block or mute?

“Please wait for a brief hold?”

And two minutes after putting me on hold again, they dropped the call.

KLM is an absolute shitshow of an airline.

After KLM finally picked up after five days, I waited on hold for two hours before getting a human. I asked for a rebooking and they said “Oh, that flight doesn’t seem to have been canceled?” After ten minutes of back and forth they were like “Oh okay, we’ll put you on tomorrow’s flight, ok?”

Day 5 stranded in Amsterdam. The KLM service line now picks up for a recorded message explaining that they’ll be hanging up because they’re stranded so many travelers that they cannot answer the phones.

Excellent thread.
Much has been written about potential safety benefits of AVs. Given the lack of AV data transparency, I cannot speak to whether, or to what degree, AVs are safer than an average human driver. What I can say:

This is the wrong question.

And even if self-driving technology proves to be less dangerous, there are many better ways to improve traffic safety and prevent fatal crashes.

my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.
