Beg to differ. An Oreo is a yank digestive sandwich.

That'd be more the Communist Party style. If the CP ever get a TD elected, PBP and Paul Murphy will start sweating.

With their connections to the building industry, you'd think they'd have ready access to lump hammers

Asked Jim Gavin today how he anticipated turning his campaign around given the questions about whether it was wise to run.

His answer: “It’s not even halftime.” ⬇️

Don't think I've ever posted anything on social media that aged as rapidly as this

If she does win #áras25, Connolly should definitely start her acceptance speech with "Tá an-áthas orm an Uachtaránacht seo a glacadh"
- Gavin will be mightily pissed off
- The Bluesky yanks won't know what she's on about
- Neither will Humphreys

Someone really needs to drive around Gavin's gaff blaring The Eagles "Hotel California" at full volume

Brilliantly, @iamreddave.bsky.social points out that the law doesn’t allow for withdrawal of a presidential candidate after nominations have closed.

Section 30(1), Presidential Elections Act, 1993

www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/1993/act...
al 30.-(1) A person in respect of whom a nomination paper has been delivered to the
ire. presidential returning officer pursuant to section 14 may withdraw his candidature at any time before the completion of the ruling on nominations but not thereafter.

Reckon he has overall, but he can't see when players have gone off the boil e.g. Grivosti (who scares me), Mulraney. Plus which he operates a single non-transferable system, so subs are never more than like for like. Big question mark over Kenny's motivational skills, as we have the players.

That rope-a-dope act in Richmond the other week paid off, we were shocking, youse were intense. Good luck in the Aviva.

Aaron Edwards' "A People Under Siege" has a vivid description of Craig arriving at a Vanguard rally flanked by motorcycle outriders. All very Nuremberg-by-the-Lagan...

Maybe, now that season 3 has started, it'll finally sink in:
Blue Lines = seminal Massive Attack album
#BlueLights = Belfast peelers

"But we ordered an ambulance"
"Sorry mate, we're not Deliveroo"

Name one timeless, classic pop song that DOESN'T have a chorus that is repeated

I was stopped and searched once in my life, at Gatwick Airport in the 1980s:
- Where are you coming from sir?
- Jamaica
- And where are you going?
- Dublin
I swear to god, their little eyes lit up at the prospect of having two goes for the price of one

I was stopped and searched once in my life, when the police were doing random spot-checks in Waterloo Station. They made it quite clear they suspected me of absolutely nothing and were doing it because having 'middle-class white lady' on their stats made them look even-handed. I had a needlework kit

I hate those LED ads too. But there was a time when that lot would be stood on the Tramway End in your place. We used to have a crowd cover that was so big it could only be used on the Connaught St terrace or Lansdowne Rd. Infrastructural progress is a bitter pill to swallow.

I wonder which came first, the Dublin one or this one on South Main St in Cork?

It's all of the above. Trouble is, it's also the voice of a lot of people who we supposedly want to unite with.
