Explaining something to a friend, might as well share (1/3) 📚
I used to animate on a show that had confusing graphic shapes, and I had to animate them moving in 3D space in a believable fashion. Often times drawing a new head angle was confusing to find! So I'd add 1-2 new sketches to search for it

Start with a simple straight on face

The responses to this statement do not pass the vibe check at all. Every art tutorial, art class, how-to-draw book focuses on skinny anatomy unless otherwise advertised. If you're lucky you get a minuscule section about drawing "chubby" characters. Skinny is the default. Skinny art is easier
just in general if the character is skinny it docks points for me. people who only ever draw thin people are playing their art career on easy mode.

the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you
