Pivoting away from “weird” was catastrophically stupid.
On the Dems in the 2024 election. It seems obvious that the whole reason they sucked up to the Cheneys and dicked off e.g. people horrified by the genocide was because they intended to win without the left, and then get rid of all of the purple-haired, placard-waving, variously-gendered malcontents.
Seems pretty clear to me from subsequent events that they thought they would win and they could then launch a bloodcurdling cull of The Groups, like the one that worked so well for Labour. All of that Vote For Me Or Fuck Off was groundwork for what would come next: them saying, We won without you.

Their worst ghouls immediately went “we must get rid of The Groups” after defeat not because The Groups cost them victory - they fucked it into lunar orbit all by themselves. They did that because the plan was always to demonstrably win without the annoying genocide-objectors, then stomp upon them.
