It's so telling that "authors" in this article observe *multiple times* that if they say their book is A.I., people avoid buying it -- and they're just hanging on, praying for the day the market is so swamped with slop that readers can't tell what's real anymore.

This article made me so angry, but also I laughed a lot & read much of it out loud to my spouse -- because WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.

Embarrassing to see adults talk to robots in a public forum. That'd be like if your friend asked a mailbox for directions once. You'd roast him for decades for that shit. Every time the concept of navigating space came up you'd hit him with "Why don't you ask the mailbox?"

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeareโ€™s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

And they were repairing it, but it was really slow so I just came home after class, on the theory that I'd get more done WFH than Annoyed By Slow Internet ... but the joke's on me bc now that I'm here I just want to read books & rest. :/

There was some kind of construction mishap at campus and the main Internet line was cut. No Internet on campus at all! I scrambled & managed to cobble class together in an acceptable way despite not having access to any of my regular materials (as I've apparently become too cloud-reliant)

Both Microsoft and Anthropic are both openly admitting how much harm their products will cause to education and yet universities are still "yes, this sounds good, it saves us the whole bother of teaching".

I've seen what Google thinks I'm about to type next. they're not that slick
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

1. I'm apparently old/out of touch enough to be surprised that CW is considered rare.
2. CW is great & I already sort of thought of it as an actual MCR album
3. This is an excellent argument & well constructed
4. It would be *incredibly* funny if the next 'real' album MCR releases is titled: SIX

No one told me this until Wednesday, so I'm telling everyone. Remember how you powered through finals week or whatever and then promptly got sick? A similar thing may happen when you try to take a break after prolonged exposure to disturbing material, e.g. the US news.
Recharge. Stay hydrated. Eat a healthy snack. Breathe. Embrace moments of joy wherever you can find them.

Prolonged stress can have long term health consequences. Self care is not selfish - itโ€™s empowering.
