Every time I see a developer use AI to generate cartoon characters for their slides they instantly devalue their entire presentation. Especially if they use that Ghibli one. It’s tone deaf, disrespectful, and ultimately cheapens your content.
The amount of AI generated art in slides at this conference, primarily used by older scientists, is killing me. Scientists please. Don’t use these ai platforms to make your figures or slides. They look bad and I have yet to see them meaningfully improve the message of talks.

Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.
There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.
