Steam Deck Verification is total marketing ploy bullshit that publishers are kayfabing through. If it were applied to the US food system they would designate burger king as Verified sustenance while labeling broccoli as Edible

Cairn is very good but my experience feels somewhat spoiled for having played Baby Steps first. The pure mechanical joy of piloting Nate’s asscheeks via his grippy tippy toes just can’t be beat.

I think a lot about this. I'd never played Deus Ex before until recently, and it's in some ways depressing as hell to see this masterwork that's functionally never going to be replicated? Mostly because nobody is able to work at the fidelity necessary for it who can still get the necessary funding?
When I left 2K Marin in 2013 and went indie, this statement (from a Rock Paper Shotgun guest piece about Deus Ex written by my friend and former colleague JP LeBreton) was seared into my mind.

As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?
