to me this is an illustration, from a communications standpoint, where you can argue "we want our local police. ICE agents are a violent militia, not police."
you're never going to convince someone that defunding or abolishing the police is a good thing if that someone is already starting from the position that the police are not just a good thing, but a necessary thing, and way too many people start from that position
