The countdown is on! With GIA2025 less than 3 weeks away, we’d like to introduce our Keynote Speakers that we will have the privilege of hosting this year. First is Dr. Sriram Neelameghan from the University at Buffalo whose lab studies the area of Systems Glycobiology. @neel-lab.bsky.social
Excited to share that our latest paper is now published in JASMS!
pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Inspired by Gary Van Berkel's work (DOI: 10.1016/S1044-0305(01)00264-1), we visualized flow using dyes, recorded videos with a smartphone camera, and analyzed grayscale intensity using MATLAB scripts.
Key findings:
Diffusion is the dominant force for mixing and, together with advection, drives bulk transport.
Differential electrophoretic motion contributes negligibly at typical nanoESI voltages.
Using a custom dual-emitter setup and a panel of dyes varying in size and charge, our talented undergrad researcher, Simar Dhillon, dissected these processes.
While rooted in glycobiology, the concepts and workflows apply broadly to all types of biomolecular interactions.
🟢 We’re especially grateful to the University of Alberta for supporting open access, making this work freely available to the community.
This paper outlines the fundamentals, challenges, and solutions for using nMS to study non-covalent biomolecular interactions. From basic binding assays to advanced troubleshooting strategies, we aimed to make this a go-to reference for the field.

When glycan recognition is linked to immune response, you need fine tuning! 😎

Here ⬇️ we show how human Siglecs act as molecular precision tools, recognising the glycan and also the biological environment (or context) these glycans are found in. A 1/5 #glycotime🧵 ⬇️

By deep characterisation of 186 N-glycan standards, we @thencfg.bsky.social have made the most comprehensive targeted LC-MS glycomic assay to date.
Non-reduced native glycan analysis is key.
We hope this enables anyone with QqQ and interest in #glycotime to measure specific N-glycan structures.
#ASMS2025 was a wonderful #TeamMassSpec experience. Our session chaired by @lingjun2025.bsky.social was awesome with great talks. Having the shuttle buses arranged was an incredibly thoughtful touch.
My personal version of Faces of MS this year:
