Important thread - and excellent analysis of current state of US.
In a recent symposium on M&A, I heard something really striking: firms contemplating deals have created go-teams of lawyers in the event that Trump becomes interested. They’re ready to negotiate directly with the White House.

My brain kept picking over exactly what was wrong with this.

This marvellous book from @joebankswriter.bsky.social arrived (thanks Joe); lovely to see a few of my photos in print. The depth of stuff in it is fascinating.

Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

It was an immense pleasure and privilege (not to mention hard work, in the best way) to help make @annacalvi.bsky.social show at Earth Hackney.
My heart is full.. It meant so much to see you all on Saturday, to feel your energy again, and to create this moment together that felt so powerful. It will live on in the ether of our memory. I will remember this show forever

Moderately certain it’s this. Bought in Norwich, I hope from somewhere interesting but probably Our Price or Menzies.

Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!

Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.

Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

Pretty scary how apt the Declaration Of Independence is …

Trump is just buddies with whoever he last spoke to.
Nothing should surprise us, but Putin’s ability to manipulate Trump remains one of the great disasters of the modern age.
Just sent out this piece. Trunp and Putin are buddies again, all talk of Tomahawks to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia have disappeared. Was it all a charade? Sad thing, is that it might be worse. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Here begins a load of old photos from the Lost in a Landscape series, some I wrote about, some I didn’t, and the book will happen one day, but other stuff is going on, so not now.
