Just a reminder that in the Los Angeles ICE case, Justice Kavanaugh's concurrence played up the extent to which those *not* properly subject to immigration arrest were detained "briefly" and released "promptly."

That wasn't true in L.A., and it isn't true here.

A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

Can confirm.
TPM spoke with executives at nonprofits advocating for immigration reform, action on climate change, democracy, civil rights, and other causes that are largely opposed by the administration.

Trump’s Vile New $230 Million Shakedown of DOJ Just Got Even Worse
It’s bad enough that Trump wants—and DOJ will likely fork over—this tribute payment. Now, get this: It can probably be done at first without even being revealed publicly.

Guess it’s time to increase my rates.
Texas AG Ken Paxton hired a former staffer to work on a recent case. As a state employee, her labor would have cost taxpayers $641.

As a private attorney, Paxton allowed her to bill $3,780 an hour, so that day of work cost taxpayers $24,570.

Some of the nation’s largest law firms warn clients to prepare for politically motivated federal probes stemming from Trump’s domestic terrorism directive, which could be used to stifle dissent and revoke tax-exempt status from left-leaning nonprofits. https://bit.ly/4gXSqC8

The Trump Administration’s “Compact of Excellence” for Universities is... far from excellent! Indeed, it’s unconstitutional. In this post, let me count the ways.

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

Weirdly, I left Facebook for good the day Kirk was killed because I had noticed a disturbing increase of random content clearly created to foment divide. Someone is paying a lot of money to poison the well.
Someone just sent me a bunch of examples of these. Apparently the site is flooded with them.

There's gotta be a story behind all of these.

It has never been the “left” that fantasizes about civil war.
like this is the most irresponsible level of hysteria i’ve ever seen. most of these people are either paid by the republican party, or are high level advisors and allies. this is insane

Kirk was vile but his assassination much more so.

Not being discussed yet: a head/neck shot at 200 yards requires skill, training, and the right equipment. This was not a random angry lefty.
