basically the whole EU, 29 states are about to start implementation of face and fingerprint biometrics for entry/exit for non-EU citizens … within the next week - completely doing away with passport stamps. really truly entering a dystopian era

✈️ From 12 Oct 2025, the EU introduces the new Entry/Exit System (EES) – incl. at Vienna Airport. Non-EU travelers on short stays will register digitally with biometrics. Plan extra time at borders: https://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/arrival-departure/entry-procedure-entry-exit-system-ees-924966

I hate being that guy lol I did however read far too many comic books growing up and still have like four long boxes in the back of my closet stuffed w/ em

he fought government agencies, fbi, nypd, military, police, private militias, etc in the comics as well - as the character was an ex-marine, this was central to several story arcs and the overall character (netflix did a good job tho, yes)

Remarkable document: hundreds of European politicians are calling to mobilize European resources to protect the Sumud aid flotilla as it faces escalating attacks on its way to Gaza.

In other words: European politicians are trying to protect humanitarian volunteers *from Israel.*

It's very hard for me to tell right now how "real" the boycott of Disney+ is in terms of impact. I've seen people claiming Disney's site was down at the same time I could pretty easily access it. But I'm hopeful that it might pick up enough steam and a strong enough narrative to matter.

correct, but they won’t

looks great - Shuter street curbs could use those plantings instead of the concrete pavers being used - plants are finding their way anyway

liberals side with fascism is history 101 lol - they’d rather enable or deny or pretend to underestimate the slants of people they otherwise agree with instead of ceding power to workers, “socialists” and people that may threaten property rights and interests of the wealthy

I genuinely cannot believe that Ezra Klein said we should run pro-life candidates in Kansas, Ohio, and Missouri; three states that recently held abortion referendums where the pro-choice side won!
Taking political positions that'll make it more likely to win Senate seats in Kansas and Ohio and Missouri. Trying to open your coalition to people you didn't want it open to before. Running pro-life Democrats. Constitutional Amendment 3

100.00% 2022 Kansas abortion referendum
KANSAS
August 2, 2022
Should there be no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion, including, but not limited to, in circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or when necessary to save the life of the mother?

I was more so commenting on the people who retweeted your tweet than your tweet itself but obviously that wasn’t clear! I think we agree overall on the issue and wasn’t attempting to dunk on you specifically

Consider that people in apartments applying for permits have vehicles because we live in a car centric hellhole, are getting those permits because they are less expensive than the parking in the buildings - and stretching people in those situations is also unfair ? maybe we should build alternatives
edwardrow.com
argument urbanists are making is that parking should be more expensive so that only house owners can afford it as a solution to prevent apartment dwellers that are already spending heavily on housing in comparison lol, I think parking is subsidized but maybe it should cost more for low density only?

It's now common that residents of new developments be excluded from applying for on-street parking. I understand this is as a path to appease local NIMBYs but it strikes me as horribly unfair. Granting more special privileges to wealthy homeowners.

Bernie Sanders finally uses the word genocide to describe Israels assault on the Palestinian people. It's taken enormous pressure to get him there.

The use of the word matters.

the glorified streetcar that is eglinton crosstown will have level boarding if it ever opens

zero that I can think of, even in the dedicated lanes like spadina the island /curbs are substantially lower than the streetcar doors

honestly pretty funny that genocide defenders went after film workers for signing a letter saying they’d boycott israeli film institutions, only for the israeli government itself to start defunding them because they dared to choose a film that criticizes its genocidal campaign on gaza

this is all over ontario lol my partner is a makeup artist and sometimes has to do overnights in smaller towns, always multiple hundreds of dollars for a stay - it's a canada thing generally. Anyway try the new "Sonder" building King St East. www.marriott.com/search/avail...

government's narrative collapses under the weight of... discord archives? As far as friends were aware, Robinson was largely apolitical, not extreme, likable, quiet but not a loner, enjoyed camping, gaming and guns - Ken Klippenstein is a great reporter
