Can we hope that when (if?) the war in Gaza in over the world, and especially the West will finally turn their attention to this mass murder. The violence is bankrolled by the West's closest allies/partners, it's not like there is no leverage and it is just a local fight. Or am I just too naive?

El-Fasher, Sudan — besieged by the RSF since May 2024 — has become “an open-air morgue” for starving civilians. The world’s silence is shocking. Since 2023 Sudan has seen 150k civilians killed, 15 million displaced & 25 million people facing acute hunger www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/10...
RSF attack on hospital in Sudan’s el-Fasher kills 12, medics say
The attack by the paramilitary on the hospital wounded 17 others, and is the second such attack in 24 hours.

The Gaza war feels like it lasted forever, our entire lifetime, past, present, and future. That is, until you remember that Russia's invasion started a year and a half before Gaza and has no sign of ever ending.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

This time I was serious, though. Won't happen again.

Yet another poll finding the same thing polls have found for months: 66% of Israelis want to end the war, 69% think Netanyahu should resign either now or after the war. www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_ent...

The plan that Netanyahu just agreed to is Exhibit 19765 for how squeezable Bibi is when push really comes to shove. Which is something folks with knowledge of Israeli politics all know but it somehow took almost two years for the US to discover that they just need to demand, not beg

Well, obviously How to Write a Thesis is a must read. OK, jokes aside, How to Travel with a Salmon (if you like essays) and I personally like Foucault’s Pendulum a lot
efinkel.bsky.social
That might come next. Though I am several blocks away from where Eco used to teach so for now I can drop the travel, I am exactly where I need to be
