Whistles Have Become Chicago’s Surprising Act of Protest

By Mariah Timms

“It doesn’t take much to be a part of this resistance. And it is a resistance, whether people are comfortable with that word or not,” said Teresa Magaña, co-founder of Pilsen Arts Community.

This is a one of my favorite movies. Rutger Hauer playing the brooding love interest.
::Spoilers::

Prophecy III picks up in the future. Gabriel has been a human for a long time and likes it.
Gabriel needed to spend
Time on Earth to hear the divine voice while the kid tries to understand the visions.
The movie ends not so much with the war over, but a shift has happen. #horror
Gabriel is punished (time out) on earth as a human. He is turned to the thing he hated the
::Spoilers::

The 2nd movie, Lucifer kicks Gabriel out of Hell. A woman who will birth a nephilim. might be a good thing or a bad thing. Gabriel mentions God has not talked to him in a long time. The woman says he might not be listening, they both go hurdling off a building. #horror #Halloween
::Spoilers::

Gabriel starts off as the “villain” who can’t see what God sees in man. He is dragged to Hell by Lucifer “Two Hells is one Hell too many.” #horror #Halloween
Recently rewatched The Prophecy I, II, and III. I would count as religious horror. Christopher Walken as Gabriel is the main reason I watched them. His character has this fascinating arc that you don’t often see in movies, especially in the 90’s with supernatural characters. #horror #Halloween

My most unhinged(?) take:

This is not just 70s nostalgia

I think we should go back to glass bottles & jars for packaging ALL pre-prepared food & drink.

Glass is near-infinitely recyclable and the improvement for both human health and the health of the environment would be significant.
It was a long time before I found the title of this movie. For a while, I had thought it had been a mashup of various ghost stories in my head. Lady in White is a great Halloween movie, especially if your in a 80’s nostalgia. #Halloween #ghoststory #horrormovie #80smovies

On who gets to determine who else is “in a gang”

(Spoiler: whoever is in power gets to make the definitions even when they know they’re wrong)

Years ago, I was invited to speak at a national law conference about the Gothic subculture (and how it did not represent a threat in schools)

Research is a skill! Here is a great guide from Bookriot on how to become well informed about your local elections. Maybe the way you help protect the right to read is by taking these skills & making a voting guide or candidate scorecards to distribute to your neighbors.

On this, the birthday of Clive Barker, one of the great Patron Saints of the Subversive, let the power of queer horror guide you.
Nope. We had weird things go on in the house, and I’ve seen the occasional shadow person. But nothing like that. As far as I know the area was just woods and farm fields no houses before the developments in the 70’s and 80’s. But I haven’t done a really deep dig in a while either.
I think it wasn’t long before I put curtains up to avoid seeing anything. It was also so random. I watched it for a while trying to figure out if it was the trees in the yard, but I was too afraid to actually look out the window. I just pictured in my head a face looking back at me.

When I got my own room as a kid. My bed was pointed so I could see the light from the window on the wall. One night, I laid in bed staring at the silhouette of a woman in puffy dress, child next to her in the window. Her head bobbing. I was too afraid to look back. #witchsky #Paranormal #Halloween

Covid is a social justice issue.

Mitigations like masks, anti virals, air purifiers and tests cost money.

We should have free respirators in public places. Mandatory masking in hospitals. Clean air benchmarks. Paid time off.

Those steps would drastically reduce spread.
Oracle Card Pull: They are all around year long, but when the season shifts and our mind drifts to the spirits and what bumps in the night, we seem to be on high alert for our invisible watchers. Remember to set ground rules, and most are just curious. #soookyseason #tarotsky #Halloween

I think it's good for someone to enjoy the gothic, horror, and recognize the influences that misogyny, racism, systemic violence, etc. have negatively had on the genre. it's also fine to not care for certain tropes. but the desire to purify the impure for what, aesthetic purposes? is mind-boggling.
