It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

My wife asked why I’m so agitated by the recent EpFiles news as many names merely confirmed things I’ve railed against as likely for years
And it’s not that the info is a revelation, exactly
But if I suspected years ago & others refused to see:
Were they ignorant or complicit? Who can we trust?

It’s so hard to describe what this is like to people who aren’t here. The ICE/BCP occupation seeps into everything. It’s not just the horror of the big stuff. It’s the little stuff, too: helicopters all night, vigilance during every trip out of the house, guilt at having any downtime at all.
I've personally had barely any ICE encounters. I've done patrolling when I can. And my body is just yelling at me that it's wrecked.
Even doing a little bit is fucking taxing. Everyone doing more is a superhero, and I don't think folks who haven't been involved in an occupation understand the toll.

2) when Reagan met with Gorbachev, I was in 5th grade & still managed to get my class to sign an anti-nuke petition

Younger kid's whole middle school walked out today in solidarity with Minnesota. Apparently there were 13 year olds getting up and making impromptu speeches. They didn't prep a chant in advance, so they settled on "F*ck ICE"
