So, I noticed nobody brought this up yet, but the AnimeNation forums are still a thing. Still hosted at animenation dot com.

They're... probably going to get a lot of looky-loos over the next few days.

DOJ trying to indict opposition lawmakers for accurately stating the law is an authoritarian weaponization of the justice system.

Where’s that post about how the citizens didn’t know that Rome had fallen until nobody showed up to repair the bridges?
@chadbourn.bsky.social there's a pilots' chat forum where they're discussing this & exchanging information. pilotsofamerica.com
general consensus is that it's bizarre & unprecedented. & incredibly poorly handled b/c it was issued with no notice, such that passengers arrived to a closed airport.

We have received numerous credible reports of torture, killing, and inhumane treatment of detained individuals at the Camp East Montana migrant detention facility, located within Fort Bliss. #txlege

this is a truly wild and disturbing thing happening. Has the government ever closed a major airport like this without giving a reason why?
The FAA is closing the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, grounding all flights to and from the airport, for “special security reasons."

The FAA's notice did not provide additional details.

Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.
US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

A. Nonsense. There are doubtless billions of people whose names are not in the epstein files and large numbers of those could invent cool things, write cool books, or be competent senators.

B. Don't threaten me with a good time, tho.
“If all the names in the Epstein files are released then our entire system will collapse.”

Works for me.

After all the invertebrates we've been seeing driving dem leadership, it's so heartening to see these public servants doing their jobs with appropriate fury.
Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

So I think everyone knows what Chuck E. Cheese is but for non-parents who don't know what LifeTouch is, it's the company that for decades has had a near-monopoly on school pictures.
Finding out that top execs from both LifeTouch and Chuck E. Cheese are in the Epstein files has pissed me off in a way that I didn’t think was still possible.

Goldman to Lyons: "You said in your opening statement that references to ICE as 'the Gestapo' or 'secret police' encourages threats against ICE agents. The problem is you have it backwards. People are simply making valid observations about your tactics, which are un-American and outright fascist."

NEW: Ring has introduced "Search Party", a horrifyingly dystopian feature nominally designed to turn all of the Ring cameras in a neighborhood into a dragnet that uses AI to look for, in their commercial, a cute lost dog.

With Ring, US consumers are actually building a surveillance dragnet.

I promise each of you personally, if Elon Musk said the next big thing was frog ranching, the business press wouldn't just print that frogs weigh 50% more than cattle, they would print an infographic showing the size difference.

there is no extent to which he, in particular, is ever questioned.
I mean, if Musk announced his plan to begin ranching frogs since the average frog weighs 50% more than a cow, you'd think that someone at the FT might pause before putting "frogs, which on average weigh 50% more than cows" in a news story.
