Justin, saying that AI replaces cognition is exactly congruent to saying that Ponzi schemes replace mutual funds. Convincing simulacra that appear to be doing impossible things are not replacing anything except other grifts. As labor saving tech they’re more mechanical turk than spinning jenny.

And most importantly, thank you to those affected by what happened for sharing their stories and how this affected them, particularly Blair Shelton, who sued the City for return of his DNA samples and won. See all of aadl's records about the DNA Dragnet here: aadl.org/taxonomy/ter...

Huge thanks to Councilor Cynthia Harrison for originating and producing this project, and to filmmaker Aliyah Mitchell for doing such an incredible job with very challenging subject matter. And big thanks to the AADL Archives Team for the research and digitization that supported this project.

Stugo is my favorite new cartoon to come along in years. So of course I knew who AADL deputy director Sherlonya and I would be for Halloween: Mad Scientist Dr. Lullah and her loyal mutant dog henchman Mr. Okay. Thanks to @gillizama.bsky.social @wolfhard.bsky.social and crew for such a great show!

The weirdest thing about this whole kerfuffle is that there is now a company tag on Techdirt for The Brown Jug.
