I just backed it. Karen's a great writer: "New York's newest neighborhood: When the Cataclysm brought magic roaring back to the world in the late 60s, one of the results was this strip of land heaving out of the Hudson River. Inspired by someone elsewhere, I hereby vow to try to avoid the terms "content" and "content creator," unless I *must* talk about work across so many fields that a generic term is the only one that will suffice. Let's not reduce art, criticism, journalism, etc. to an undifferentiated smear of Stuff.

If you're buying gifts for the holidays, maybe consider supporting artists, writers, creators. Gift someone a Patreon, commission an art piece, buy a book, purchase handmade jewelry, etc. Your support means everything.

I approve this message.
I’ve decided my mission this year is to get more people to accept that singing is our natural heritage.
From ancient myth to fairy tales to modern fiction, there are many classic tales of singers working magic through their melodies; here are five more recent speculative short stories about the power of song 🎵

"No longer 'socially acceptable' to carry around a cool rock & show it to people you meet."

🤨
One of the tragedies of growing up is it's apparently no longer "socially acceptable" to carry around a cool rock & show it to people you meet.

So I have to respect the Chinese, Korean & Japanese for having a tradition of finding cool rocks & displaying them.

Let's talk about scholar's stones.

WORD
I think one of the hardest things about being a career writer in traditional publishing is that writing attracts the neurodivergent brain while the variable reinforcement schedule punishes it. We are all the rat at the water bottle, waiting for the hit of cocaine. You get one win, and you need MORE.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

The “Piggy” incident did something different - it showed an out-of-control Trump, a man who actually “snapped” in front of everyone.

I don’t think the reporter needed defending, honestly. She cracked him, he lost it and the entire world saw him for the cornered rat he is. She didn’t even flinch.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.
