M42, M43 y NGC1975 en Orión, fotografiadas desde Australia hace unos minutos.
Fotografía en blanco y negro de la nebulosa. Se compone de dos gigantescas masas de gas. La superior cuatro veces mayor en tamaño, es más brillante que la otra sobre todo en la parte de abajo. Por arriba se abre como un águila empezando a extender sus alas, en un dramático despliegue de texturas vaporosas. Cientos de estrellas de distintos tamaños se reparten por todo el paisaje, mezclándose con los hilos de gas, dándole una profundidad a la imagen, que la hace más hermosa.

The "translucent ripples" effect, I hadn't felt it since the Valinor ripples where Ingenuity now lays.
Crop of the OP photo focused on a large ripple and its bifurcations seen longitudinally. The color treatment and the ripple structure make it look as if the ripples' insides are glowing.

Mi foto de hoy de la nebulosa eta Carinae, que contiene la estrella hipermasiva que le da nombre, y que tiene grandes posibilidades de explotar como una inmensa supernova.
Nebulosa que parece partida en dos partes en un campo con varios miles de pequeñas y lejanas estrellas. La zona más brillante de la nebulosa está en el centro, justo donde parece cortada en dos, y tiene forma de triángulo. Ahí se esconde eta Carinae, la gigantesca y anómala estrella. Arriba a la derecha un cúmulo abierto que parece un racimo estelar.

After the launch of MS-29, uh, something went wrong with part of the pad having somehow fallen in the flame trench.

And well, it's the only pad that Russia has capable of flying Soyuz or Progress, which is a bit of a problem (especially for station).

Big, beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 1055 is a dominant member of a small galaxy group a mere 60 million light-years away toward the aquatically intimidating constellation Cetus. Seen edge-on, the island universe spans over 100,000 light-years, a little larger than our own Milky Way galaxy. The colorful, spiky stars decorating this cosmic portrait of NGC 1055 are in the foreground, well within the Milky Way. But telltale pinkish star forming regions and young blue star clusters are scattered through winding dust lanes along the distant galaxy's thin disk. With a smattering of even more distant background galaxies, the deep image also reveals a boxy halo that extends far above and below the central bulge and disk of NGC 1055. The halo itself is laced with faint, narrow structures, and could represent the mixed and spread out debris from a satellite galaxy disrupted by the larger spiral some 10 billion years ago.

A Northern Indiana Public Service Co. affiliate — called NIPSCO Generation, or GenCo — plans to build up to 3 GW of gas-fired generation and battery storage to serve planned Amazon data centers, the companies said Monday. Combined with electric transmission to be built by NIPSCO, the companies expect to spend about $7 billion. Under the arrangement, GenCo plans to build two 1.3-GW gas-fired power plants and a 400-MW, 4‐hour battery storage system to serve the data centers, according to filings at the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. In comparison, NIPSCO expects its non-data center load in 2028 will be about 2.3 GW. The IURC on Nov. 19 reaffirmed a September decision to approve the GenCo framework, which is designed to ensure that NIPSCO’s existing customers don’t pay for infrastructure needed to serve hyperscalers like Amazon. Under the framework, GenCo will own and operate power plants for large load customers. NIPSCO, a NiSource subsidiary, expects its 15-year deal with Amazon will produce about $1 billion in savings for its ratepayers. Those savings will be reflected as a credit on customers’ electric bills, according to a Nov. 7 filing by NIPSCO and NIPSCO Generation at the IURC. Residential customers will receive roughly $7 in monthly savings, according to the utility. Also, the 2.6-GW of gas-fired generation GenCo plans to build at its coal-fired Schahfer power plant site could produce nearly four times the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that the existing Schahfer coal plant emitted in 2023, according to Inskeep.
