I've been doing video game VO since 2003. In my 20+ years, only ONE game has ever paid "royalties/residuals/bonus payments."

Date Everything.
And that's ONLY because it's a game produced by professional voice actors who purposefully created a special contract for the game w/ SAG-AFTRA.

They will tell you no. They might even laugh.

So is the upcoming DW:O dlc going to be included in the Deluxe edition or is it separate? Just wondering because I will probably eventually stop being the world's grumpiest man about Origins and the DLC looks really interesting.

Whatever production time and cost was "saved" by using AI for one of the most human-dependent disciplines in game making was actively obliterated by the act itself, overshadowing the hard work of every single other developer on the project and making this situation impossible to right. WHO KNEW.
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

It's a lot of fun that the US industry intentionally sabotaged the 2D medium because they thought CGI was a workerless future, whereas countries that didn't abandon illustrational animation were able to advance it while also integrating its techniques into their CG, pushing them far ahead.
