You can tell how little it rains in LA, because I, a person on the other side of the world (where it has also been raining, but who cares 🤷🏻‍♀️) knows that it has been raining in LA.

Kind of wild how relevant this 2013 JFSP sketch still is in 2025.

Stormy power cut renders all plans cancelled, leaving sitting with my kindle (and attached light) under a blanket for the next hour or so until fixed as my only option 🤷🏻‍♀️

How do I break it to my ACNH villagers that the reason I haven't spoken to them in a week is because I've been hanging out with Pantalaimon instead? 😬 I feel like they're not gonna understand.

(I do not have time/energy to both read and play my switch 😂 it's either/or!)

Realised in the middle of the night that because the turnaround with the decorators was so much quicker than expected (and coming back last night was easier for parental plans than today) I forgot to go and say goodbye to Molly before I left again 😬 she gon be cranky again. Sorry Mollywobbles 😞
Have had the decorators in this week (not a euphemism) to paint the hall, stairs and bathroom. Went back to mum and dad's on Sunday night expecting not to be back until late Thurs or Friday. And yet. Here I am, back on my sofa, the job exquisitely well done. I'm so impressed, and also really happy!☺️

I 100% believe in the romance between Keira Knightley and Joe Wilkinson, am heavily invested in their pie, and don't wish to live in whatever paralell universes it isn't happening in #waitrose

OK, this might be the most Emily Sturgess thing I've ever said, but I've just watched a video of Jack from Springwatch speed processing a wren while out ringing, and it might be the most attractive thing I've ever seen.

When I'm at my parents, I'm always so conscious not to take advantage of or for granted their hospitality and generosity. However, this does not apply to dad's printer (what millennial can be expected to own a printer?!) I've just printed 20 pages of craft patterns and I don't regret it.

I am currently in the middle of a Very Good Book, and my ME is either only letting me read for an hour, tops, or not letting me read at all, and this enforced rationing rather than bingeing as I would like Greatly Displeases Me.

I don't know whether it's just because I've spent my life surrounded by pedants, but I find it deeply annoying that in an Ancestry tv ad they repeatedly refer to it as 'World War Two', rather than 'The Second World War'. Is it just one of those things that's been used so much we accept it, now?

Back at mum and dad's for Sunday dinner, I'm secretly delighted to learn that Molly has been in a mood since I moved out two weeks ago. I just got lots of snuffly kisses 🥹

(I always knew I was her favourite 😉🤭🤫😂)

Most days in my new place we have young people on verrry noisy quad bikes and the ones that aren't quad bikes but aren't quite motorbikes (what are they called?) going up and down these paths. Anyway, was just by the window as some turned up, thought I'd have a nosey. Turned out to be the police 😂

Wowser. OK, here are the things I can agree with:
- there are types of disability that are unfairly biased against when it comes to employment because they aren't given the support or adaptations they need to be able to work safely and reliably. Those who can work and want to, but aren't given +
‘If you’re disabled, you’re not ill.’
Sir Charlie Mayfield (author of the Keep Britain Working review)

This is who’s shaping UK disability employment policy. Shocking, he doesn’t even understand the basics.

I’m disabled because I’m chronically ill with #MECFS.

Yep, this is probably the first ever bonfire night where I've slept with the window open because I was warm 😬 not a great record to have broken. Normally we're talking about 'holding out to put the heating on' - well, mine on its automatic thermostat hasn't come on at all this week 😬
Bonfire Night 2025 was record breaking 🎆

Temperatures overnight only dropped to 14.4℃ at Teddington in London, provisionally making it the mildest Bonfire Night on record

The previous record for the night of 5th-6th November was 13.9℃ at Gordon Castle, Scotland, in 1938

I'm not ok with the sudden influx of Christmas ads during bake off. It's not even bonfire night yet, I can't have Carol of the bells in my head yet. There are still green trees outside my window, I'm not ready for snowy scenes.

Da, da-da da-da, who's Madeline?
#GBBO #BakeOff

No, but who is Madeline, actually?

I continue to be entertained that the human body doesn't have proper receptors for 'wet'. I just sat on the sofa and immediately went, 'Ew! Why is there a wet patch under my ankle?!' It turns out I was just touching the cold metal of my phone charger 😆

Research shows that watching footage of animals we find cute is relaxing.
Here’s one of the voles that lives under my garden steps (back in April). A cherry blossom petal falls on her head but she doesn’t notice because she’s so focussed on her snacks❤️👇🏼

I'm actually quite sad half term is ending tomorrow. My best friend is a deputy head, and her term times are absolutely full on, so she messages a big update every two or three weeks (which I absolutely love, don't get me wrong). But I ADORE the daily half term messages about anything and nothing.

Have just spotted that The Naked Week is back today, hooray! Given that it's Halloween, I truly hope the which is/witches joke gets used in full force. I'll catch up while I potter about tomorrow 😄
