Small child in all in one waterproofs & wellies. Go sit in a puddle, love. They frown on that when you're grown up. Sadly

Lovely dad would have been 90 today. It's very strange when you lose someone comparatively young (59) to imagine what they would have been like if they'd have lived. Still loving jazz, pubs, rugby, cricket & messing about in the woods on his tiny tractor I reckon (no brakes. He'd drive into a tree)

YES
I keep saying that advert for an AI (I think it’s Copilot, maybe?) where a woman is in an important meeting and keeps asking it to respond to her client’s negotiations in real time, then repeats whatever the AI says without checking, and honestly if I were her boss she’d be *so* fired.

Thought I’d just pass on some relationship advice my grandma once gave to me: if you’re unhappy with your partner or spouse why don’t you replace their head in every photograph in your house with a picture of your celebrity crush? x

God. American medical costs are an obscenity. I'm glad James Van Der Beek's family have had fantastic support from a fundraiser but nobody should have that kind of debt dealing with that kind of horrific tragedy. Or indeed any health emergency

Rose Tremain absolutely glorious in last week's Observer about annoying phrases. I totally concur: The worst, she says, is that ungrammatical idiocy "See it, say it, sorted" on the train network. Also, she reported a theft to British Transport Police which (obviously) wasn't ever sorted.

I'm doing a Memoir writing course as a means to kick myself up the arse about writing about my scandalous grandparents. One enjoyable bit is researching Liverpudlian & Lancastrian slang. Some I remember from childhood. "Puddled" for bonkers. Comes from the smelting process

This is why you need to be reading books and writing your own emails, by the way. When you outsource your thinking abilities, you risk turning your brain into soup. Heavy dependence on AI has already been linked with severe cognitive decline. What you don’t use, you will lose.
