No worries. I think the phrase “first timers briefing” is misleading. It really means “first timers at this course”. The RD will also do a brief right at the start to everyone and usually asks “any first timers” but you don’t have to put your hand up (you’ll likely get a cheer if you do though)

It’s not mandatory. I don’t know how they’d check, especially at the bigger events. I go to the brief if it’s a course I’ve not done before, but nobody checks. It’s not really a newbie brief, more “what the course is like”. So you see people at them wearing 250 runs shirts because they’re visitors

You don’t have to do that. Unless you’re going to be the fastest runner there “follow the person in front” is probably all you need to be told 😂

The list of Christmas and New Years Day parkruns now has some green ticks… hopefully one of the Cheltenham events will run on Christmas Day 👀 (I’ve done it twice in a row though so am tempted to volunteer this year) #parkrun

Interesting. I’ve done Evesham once and it was super muddy. I’ve been meaning to go back and give it another go in dryer conditions but i suspect I’ve missed my window this summer. Hope your calf is ok 🤞

Happy #parkrunday had a good push today and got my time down again for the third week in a row. Hoping he next week I’ll actually be able to get out and train a bit more, but this felt good today #parkrun 🦢

Really enjoyed the event, thank you for coming back to Cheltenham!

It’s good isn’t it? There are always a load of things I want to go to. I’ve got a few more events booked for the next week

Second #cheltlitfest event: the fabulous @nataliehaynes.bsky.social doing what was effectively a standup comedy telling of Medea. Loved this

After a difficult day I decided to go out to the #cheltlitfest events I bought tickets for before life got hard. First up: @pauls-h.bsky.social talking about #parkrun. Then went and met him to say thank you for how much happiness I’ve had from it. What a legend

Thank you for all the kind wishes. Mum is in a lot better state than my stepdad conveyed, but I’m bracing myself for the next few weeks being like this, dashing up the M5 just in case 🥺

Today is going to be a long day. Got the call from my stepdad last night that Mum has got a lot worse and is in a lot of pain and on morphine. Heading up there shortly after a very bad nights sleep. Feel exhausted before today has even started

Jonathan Ross’s outfits on #celebritytraitors are definitely a choice

Really looking forward to it, there are some great speakers this year

Finally stopped dithering and joined a political party for the first time ever. The world is getting scarier by the day, I decided it was time to stop handwringing and put my money where my heart is, @zackpolanski.bsky.social and co seem to be offering genuine hope right now #greenparty 💚💚💚

ah, nice, that would have been my other choice, but was harder to get to from where we were staying (Caffarella also has cake and prosecco, but probably not as nice a view). Hope you enjoy it :)
emmbean.bsky.social
which Roman parkrun are you doing? I did Caffarella in April and it was lovely (very flat, lots of interesting ruins nearby)

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

Hands up anyone else who looked weeks ago 😳😂

I may never forgive myself for doing this so early but I've just looked up Christmas #parkruns. Turns out I'm so early the list isn't even up yet.

I’m relatively new to it but loving it a lot more than road running!

Much needed! Tree roots everywhere. It was so fun, owls hooting and us all whooping as we ran. Probably looked like a right bunch of weirdos but it was awesome

After a big gap I finally made it out for a club trail run tonight. Hills through the woods in the dark. Owls a-hooting. Tree roots a-stumbling. That blew away the cobwebs! #runchat #trailrunning #blueskyrunners
