Anyway to play devils advocate for two seconds I think mkx was good, specifically because it did a lot right, instead of letting everyone customize characters for the most optimal routes it gave everyone moon systems from melty blood and let us roll with them

something i really like about metaphor refantazio is what i've been thinking about ever since i read @gene.meme 's awesome article about it

specifically the fact that the mantra chants are what we do to tell each other we live in an unchangeable "utopia", and the soundtrack really reflects that

maybe i'm reading into it too much but this is one of my favorite moments in the game and i always interpreted it as specifically an idea against chanting democracy as a mantra, but instead having hope to change things yourself, to look critically inside the union we're in and to change it

To me this interpretation is that the mantra chants of utopic democracy trying to come through but it cant, because Gallica's music is telling you that no, the life we're living in right now, politically democratic it may be, isnt perfect, and a better world is possible a better tomorrow is possible

now this part is spoilers but if you've played the game you would know at the end when you're inside More's storybook of "utopia", after you deny it's perfection you would know that the music that plays is the first song Gallica casts to you, the first magic.
