“The absolute value of a vector is simply its length.” Prof. Solo writes absolute value of vector v equals the square root of x squared plus y squared plus z squared on the blackboard in elegant handwriting that makes Rey envies. Her students have jokes—affectionate ones, but still—about her unreadable scrawl. Writing on a vertical surface while also lecturing is hard, okay?

She observes Solo’s class from the back of the lecture hall, noting the way he pauses every so often when the scribbling of students taking notes grows too frantic. He’s been teaching for nearly a decade longer than her—at 35, Rey is the youngest-ever chair of the Naberrie University math department—but he gave up a tenured position at Exogol College to accept an associate professorship at NU, for reasons he’d sworn were entirely personal.

Amilyn Holdo, the previous department chair, had given Solo the benefit of the doubt. And now, only two years later, Amilyn has retired, Rey has become department chair, and Professor Benjamin Solo has been fast-tracked for tenure on the basis of his many Coruscant Mathematics Journal publications and Ataru Outstanding Academic award.

Which means that Rey has to sit in on several of his classes, further complicating her already busy schedule. But that isn’t the problem—an overfull schedule comes with the territory of being department chair. Rather, the issue is that his deep voice, elegant gestures, and broad chest straining the seams of crisp button-down shirts continue to haunt her long after she leaves campus for the day, lingering as she grades exams in her pajamas or tries to watch TV.

The moments when his eyes meet hers across the lecture hall follow her into sleep, resulting in graphic dreams of being bent over a lectern while he gasped filthy praises in her ear. She never, ever had a sex dream about a professor when she was a student. Then again, her linear algebra prof wasn't nearly as hot as Benjamin Solo.

Now she dreams of ambushing him during office hours and riding him at his desk with her hand over his mouth to muffle his groans.

And, just last night, she woke halfway to orgasm from a dream in which giving her a detailed private lecture, complete with diagrams, explaining how he'd diligently press his cock into her and precisely angle their hips to hit her g-spot with every thrust. The math involved made no sense whatsoever upon waking, but she slipped her hand into her pajama shorts and came in record time regardless.

because of all that, having to sit in on Solo's classes is absolutely (no pun intended) a huge problem. It would be fine if they were both regular professors—at least, it'd be within university rules—but as department chair, Rey has a significant amount of authority over his career. If she can't ask if he'd be amenable to letting her ride him in his office, can she at least institute a rule that professors must wear contacts rather than glasses, so she doesn't have to endure the sight of him in wire-rimmed frames that manage to be both slutty and erudite at the same time?
