Like my friends on here, I want to be better about promoting my work. So hi, I'm Amanda. I'm an indie author from New England. I write NE-based queer paranormal stories.

My books basically boil down to: "Do you love HBO's Somebody, Somewhere, but wish it had more ghosts? GOOD NEWS!"

Something that sticks with me: Alice Wong didn’t really gain notoriety for her work until the last decade or so. How many people who use wheelchairs or who have significant medical disabilities does the world write off simply by how we visually perceive them? Farewell, Alice.

Two months until I'm a full-time student again. So this month and next month involve getting a whole lot of systems set up and skeletons formed for my creative work to keep going.

Including setting up a shop on my website instead of relying fully on online retailers to sell my books. Because Oof.

I'm a sucker for stories about misfits fighting ghosts, in case you haven't read the 11 books I've written on that theme. And also part of a proud union family. So I love everything about this.

Check it out and maybe pledge to support cool art that supports its team.
one of the big reasons we're asking for so much money for Phantom Pulse is bc I want to do everything I can to make it a union production so my actors can potentially* get healthcare that I will also be paying for in part with the funds we raise with kickstarter! www.kickstarter.com/projects/aty...

Amazon ate my book's preorder link and are giving me the runaround about when it'll be fixed. Who has experience with WooCommerce? Because this week's new project is setting up direct sales.

I used to listen to the bright sessions while driving my little baby around on errands.

Now I'm listening to this epilogue while my preteen reads comics in his batman costume on the other side of the room

It's nice to hear it again ♥️
10 years ago today, the first episode of The Bright Sessions came out.

I mostly write paranormal stories with queer characters and a style that has been flatteringly referred to as "lo-fi" in several reviews

Donate $10USD to the food pantry of your choice, send me proof, and you can have all my books

(more info in thread. And thx to everyone who has already donated!)

Trigger warning -- I talk about some of the death threats I've gotten in the past, and how those death threats led to writing Mary Sue. (starting with the death threat I tell at parties bc it makes me laugh)

ALSO, if you haven't read it yet, the end of the piece links to an extended preview!
Our October piece is live! 💞 @megfitz89.bsky.social writes about MARY SUE, her indie comic about a fanfic writer for a CWesque vampire show whose Mary Sue character comes to life.

This piece is part essay about Mary Sues, part excerpt from the first issue. Read or listen to a full audio version:
Reclaiming the Mary Sue — Fansplaining
Mary Sues are literary tools like any other. My new comic, Mary Sue, interrogates the continued bias against these characters—and brings one life.

If you can afford it, a *monetary* donation (it goes a lot farther!) to your local food bank would be a most excellent thing to do right now.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

This happened in my fucking city. An old mill city that was built on immigrant labor. They kidnapped a disabled child and held her to get her father.
“Leominster police arrived at the scene, recovered the child and returned her to the family.

However, two days later, on Hip's wife's birthday, federal agents returned to the house, pulled the man out of the car and arrested him.”

Are we going to talk about the fact that we have a clear pattern of ICE taking children as hostages here in Massachusetts, #mapoli, or are we just going to continue to yammer about how we support public safety?

Because this isn’t safe at all.
