After another week of banging on about immigration, Keir Starmer's ratings fall to their lowest ever level.

At what point do Labour strategists start to think that maybe this isn't quite the winning strategy they believed?

Coverage of the refugee proposals demonstrates why we have such a broken political system. Endless focus on left-wing anger and right-wing support. Basically nothing on whether the reforms will work. They will not, which is why we'll still be here having the same debate in three years.

By mimicking Reform to win back support, the Labour government is making a serious mistake. This race to the bottom emboldens Farage, punishes vulnerable people, amplifies racism, and undermines those working to hold communities together.

Not really surprising except how long its taken this to gain traction. He can't keep brushing this off.

Spectator running a piece by Daniel Hannan which leans heavily into the inferred idea that you're not necessarily British if you come from a migrant background, even if you were born and brought up here.

Labour timidity in defending the BBC is a great shame, but explicable. To defend them here you have to point out that notwithstanding the unfortunate edit Trump *did* incite the riots, having falsely claimed the election was fraudulent, and later lauding and pardoning the rioters.

Nigel Farage, who has appeared on BBC Question Time 38 times, says the BBC has been insitutionally biased for decades.

He may have a point.

The BBC is in crisis in the same way that GB News would be if you put Owen Jones on the board armed with a veto and plenty of coffee.

Worth reading in full by someone who knew the inside workings
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

Although its clear that the editing inaccurately points to a conclusion that Trump disputes, the USA House of Representatives report from Dec 2022 stated that former President Donald Trump was responsible for what happened on Jan. 6.

I hope he sues and loses

Remember when the BBC reversed the sequence of events at Orgreave to show miners throwing things at the police horses, when in fact they were responding to being subjected to a mounted horse charge? Who resigned then??
