CM LaTrisha Vetaw's answer to this question should disqualify her from public service. She is an embarrassment.

How the fuck does a current City Council member either not have access to the information needed, or not have adequate critical thinking skills to provide an answer to this question?
Should the city contract with the Rev. Jerry McAfee for violence prevention work?
Don't know

The council member is totally right. If the downtown council, Mayor Frey and his allies don’t condemn this anti-Minneapolis propaganda, they’re teeing up Republicans to run statewide on this garbage next year. They’re willing to risk a GOP governor or leg to make sure their stooge remains mayor.

The moderates of this city really want to deliver a Republican legislature next year. And corporate democrats are giving them the lay up.

It won’t hurt progressives. But it will hurt the top of the ticket next year.

Former KARE-11 anchor Rick Kupchella won’t say who paid for the film that paints a dark picture of Minneapolis and progressive City Council members, who dispute policies the film ascribes to them.

Commentary: It's time to eliminate the state’s home mortgage interest deduction and reinvest those funds directly into down payment assistance and the production of affordable homes.
Minnesota should end inefficient mortgage interest tax break, spend directly on housing instead • Minnesota Reformer
Instead of subsidizing debt, we could directly attack the real barriers to homeownership.

The STOP Slumlords ordinance is okay, but City should also adequately resource orgs that support renters in all properties. Mpls contracts w/ HOME Line @ $125K/year to operate our hotline—we advise 5,000+ Minneapolis renter households/year. 1,500+ inquired about habitability issues last year alone.

The website of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development needs more pop-ups.
Screenshot of HUD.gov with a pop-up message:
"The Radical Left are going to shut down the government and inflict massive pain on the American people unless they get their $1.5 trillion wish list of demands. The Trump administration wants to keep the government open for the American people."

Two fair housing attorneys signed their names to a report warning that the US Department of Housing and Urban Development is eviscerating the offices that investigate and prosecute housing discrimination cases.

Today HUD removed both attorneys: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I had the opportunity to sit down with Eric Roper to share why I think Minneapolis has everything we need to tackle our biggest problems. I hope you'll take the time to read about what I know we can do together with compassionate, principled leadership.

Roper: Minneapolis mayoral candidate DeWayne Davis is a lefty but not quite a leftist
The ebullient preacher is motivated to assist the vulnerable but also wants businesses to thrive.

I did the math on what ended up being an 82-minute Minneapolis mayoral debate.
Here’s my unofficial count of how long each candidate got to speak:
Jacob Frey 18:17
Omar Fateh 17:04
Dewayne Davis 10:11
Jazz Hampton 9:08
Brenda Short 7:56

The Citizens League should be embarrassed for thinking Blois Olson is an appropriate moderator, with all of the conflicts of interest he has.

Do either Olson or Lahammer even live in Minneapolis?
