I've decided all novels derived from Dracula should from now on be called fangfic

I bet if they try real hard the MAHA movement can give mad cow disease to so many people and turkeys.

The best Star Wars movie is the friends we made along the way.

(And then drove away because we kept arguing about the best Star Wars movies.)

The second best Star Wars movie is Solo.

I see someone flipped the “let’s argue about Star Wars movies again for some reason” switch. We really need to turn that thing off. This is like a little cut in your cheek you keep worrying with your tongue. No one has ever seen a hot take and revised their Star Wars feelings. No one ever will.

It’s exciting but strange to be working in the earliest stages of an all-new novel. It’s early and I am settling into a voice, cadence, and vibe. Some ideas never get past this (juggling two of these right now) because I am missing something but I think one’s got legs. We’ll see!

This is a scheduled post for anyone awake at midnight ET (very likely not our co-founders) to check our submissions guidelines. Perhaps a certain Moksha link at the bottom is now active, and perhaps certain Moksha forms are now open to submissions 👀

At the risk of being a party pooper, it seems possible/likely to me that some of the locations listed on X that people are so gleefully posting about may be showing results from VPNs. It is common to “use” countries with low regulations for that. Anyone avoiding laws in the US may even use them.

It really bums me out when I see a movie or read a book a lot of people like and it doesn’t work for me. I wanted to like the thing. It is made from components I usually like. But, alas, I didn’t care for it. There should be a German word for this.

I look forward to when I see “MTG” and can safely think it means “Magic: the Gathering” again and doesn’t make me think of a sad racism conspiracy lady.

@erikgrove.com, the editor of The Muddy Goose Guide to the Weird Northwest, has been making little profiles about the contributors, including a merit badge declaration for each of them. Here's mine! The book can be preordered now. www.powells.com/book/the-mud...

I do a lot of research and checking with experts as a writer and an editor to ensure I don’t mess up and disrespect a culture or something beyond my experience. This is, in my opinion, bare minimum stuff. I still mess up but when I encounter people that don’t bother… I am flummoxed.

I published some pieces I'm deeply proud of this year. My second novel, one of my most personal novelettes, one of my weirdest short stories, and an essay on an idea that's been nagging me for years.

Might fuck around and invent a complete language with conjugations and grammatical rules for a writing project. As a treat.

LP is one of our best and kindest. Every chance I get to talk to him at conventions is too short, but he’s just such a lovely presence that there’s a line of people eager to see him. Share and support if you can.

if you canceled disney ai slop plus, a small fraction of that sub can keep you in the know about some of the latest greatest sff short fic. you'll be talking about short stories at the water cooler instead of a marvel, and people will be like wow, this is one hip well-read person. what a cool cat.
In light of the astronomical increases for my health insurance next year, I thought it would be a good time to encourage people to subscribe. (A few hundred should cover it. Sigh.)
