14 years ago today, I took the TOEFL exam in Istanbul to apply for grad school in Canada. I spoke French throughout my teens and had a degree in French–Turkish interpreting. I knew very little English and barely passed TOEFL.

Huge thanks to @psychopy.org and especially @hirstrj.bsky.social ! After spending thousands on other tools with little support, Dr. Hirst solved all my technical problems within days. If you are using behavioral, eyetracking, and EEG systems in your lab, I recommend checking out PsychoPy.

I’m collecting peer-reviewed articles that have significantly impacted #psycholinguistic theories, methodologies, or models through inclusive research practices (e.g., minoritized language users, lesser-studied languages, different modalities). What are your favorite papers from the last 15 years?

Life goals (not the first inspired by @emilymyers.bsky.social).
Just did a calculation of our lab's time from project conception to publication (e-pub) over the past x years. We're averaging 3.5 years from the first idea to acceptance. About 6-9 months of this is review time. Don't know how typical this is but good reality check esp. for trainees.

I am thrilled to share our new paper which investigates the role of continuous measures in linguistic diversity research. We found that children who are exposed to more linguistic diversity (e.g., language, dialect, accent) are perceptually more flexible. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
