even a cursory glance at the statistics will tell you this is a pro-rape policy
The Scottish Prison Service has an effective policy on trans prisoners based on expertise and experience. Folk concerned about women prisoners' safety should look at the stats. Trans people are not, and never have been, the problem. This is reactionary and should have no place in Labour's manifesto.

Working Class jobs
❌plumber
❌heat pump fitter
❌plasterer
✅talking with an accent on TV
✅talking with an accent on podcasts
✅posting about how other people are middle class
in the discourse around the Green by-election candidate being a plumber, you can really see how much ‘working class’ in a UK context just means ‘racist’ like 90% of the time

Think it sums up UK politics that the party leader advocating the end of drugs prohibition has never taken drugs, while all the politicians defending it are well known to have done so.

it’s just pandering to the highest turnout usually Labour-skeptical demographic
Genuinely curious to understand why so many Labour MPs backed the Waspi cause - one with such limited merit - other than that being the kind of thing one does in opposition. I’d love to read a long read on the campaign and how the cause became so widespread…

“the internet isn’t real life” actually it turns out that the internet is the thing that’s real and real life is fake
Like holy shit "Jeffrey Epstein is the reason /pol/ exists" is a maximally insane statement, but at the same time it also makes the last fifteen years make so much more sense.
he also appears to have met moot the same day /pol/ was (re)launched (not my image)

the leadership decides who the MP candidates are, and then the MPs decide on the leadership, who decide who the MP candidates are, who decide on the leadership, and so on l until the party has zero intellectual diversity and wouldn’t dream of ever challenging Sonia’s cosy consensus
Would the MPs not have picked - say - Cameron, May, Johnson, Sunak and Starmer? And if they would, then what the fuck is the issue here

my take for Scotland is it needs a city council to be a real city
There are only seven cities in England: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds and Newcastle. The other pretenders are just big towns.

I’m sorry but “back onto our streets” is not an honest phrase to use about a criminal who was released on December 17th because he was terminally ill and died on New Year’s Day.

When Zoë Garbett and I wrote the Greens’ drugs policy in 2019, this is exactly what we hoped for.

Our opponents think that our policy of legal regulation is a weakness that can be exploited for political gain - but it’s backfiring.
